“…on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth,
and the windows of the heavens were opened.” ~Genesis 7:11
For forty nights the rushing waters sang them all to sleep.
One-hundred-fifty days of surge and swell
Before the deep fountains and windows of heaven were shut.
The rains were restrained, the waters receded,
Creation was reborn.
The story of Noah and his family.
A story of second chances and new beginnings.
Prelude to another flood,
Flowing from the Jordan, turning hearts away from sin
Pouring from heavy jars of Cana vintage, to sweeten every joy
Running from the Pool of Siloam, washing away our blindness
Springing to life in the hearts of those who believe.
A flood of living water,
In his eyes, over our feet, and from the side they pierced,
The Wellspring, the Headwaters, the Source.
The story of God and all his children.
A story of second chances and new beginnings.
Prelude to our own rebirth.
On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” ~John 7:37, 38
