Respiration

The Church breathes in
Filling herself with new life
An exchange of Spirit takes place
A gathering of rhythm, a quickening pulse
A change of heart freely offered / Letting go of sin and self

The Church breathes out / Filling the world with new life
An exchange of Spirit takes place / A sharing
of song and seed, salt and light / A
changed heart, fruit that abides
Taking up the cross
In Love

The Church breathes in…

Ad infinitum

Have you put this in the bulletin at church before? It seems so peacefully familiar...-J

Hi J, A couple Sundays ago, I shared some thoughts along these lines as a kind of "call to call worship." It's meant to reflect the tension between wanting the Church to grow, to gather in, to call sinners home... and believing that the Church must also scatter, send, and go out to meet the world's great need for the steadfast love of God.
