"The Measure of All Things"

It’s said by some that there are
Many paths leading to God
Many names to which God will answer
Many faces upon which we may fix our adoration

Who am I to say there are not?
Even the psalmist proclaims a living God
From whom no path leads away!*

What I will say
And, what I do confess

Is that I do not always find within me
the faith to walk these paths to God.
I do not always hold onto
the hope that God would respond to my voice.
I do not always look with love upon the faces of Beauty and Truth.

This also,
Is my confession

There is One
Who walks the path to us
Who knows and calls us by name
Who smiles and laughs and weeps for love of us

Perhaps the surest path for us to reach God
Is the one that God would take to reach us?
