Stay Tuned

Dear Reader,

In the spirit of "breath and light" for the journey, I will be taking a short break from weekly postings.

Shabbat Shalom,
~Brian

we'll see you before long."

I will miss you. I've always wondered about the "good Lord willing and the creek don't rise." My grandmother was Pennsylvania Dutch and had numerous such sayings - is the creek rising separate from the Lord's will? What is the place of chance(or chaos to use modern language)in our universe? Obviously this all ties into "why does a good God allow bad things to happen?" So is it chance or the Lord's will that you have stopped posting for "awhile." Hopefully you will find the level of the creek to your liking.

But who are we to say what is "bad"?. It is only in our opinion that "bad" things happen. Most people will admit that their times of suffering and hardship taught them the most about life. I don't think God lets "bad" things happen, we just don't have the insight to see the "good" (or purpose)in them.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
-- Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
